At All Saints, our Christian vision is that, through the power of God’s love, children will reach their true potential and be able to live their lives with an open mind so that they learn from the world around them. Through our Science curriculum, we inspire children to be curious, inquisitive and reflective learners who develop a sense of wonder about the natural world and their place within it.

Our Science curriculum is designed to provide children with the knowledge, skills and vocabulary needed to understand the world around them and to think and work like scientists. Through the Kapow Primary Science scheme, learning is carefully sequenced through a spiralised curriculum that enables pupils to revisit and build upon prior knowledge and skills over time. This approach supports long-term retention, deepens understanding and allows children to make meaningful connections across different areas of science.

We encourage children to ask questions, make observations, carry out investigations and draw conclusions from evidence. Through practical enquiry and hands-on experiences, pupils develop the skills to work scientifically, think critically and communicate their ideas confidently. Children learn that science is a continually evolving subject that helps us to understand the world and make informed decisions about the future.

Our unique rural setting provides valuable opportunities for children to observe and explore the natural environment first hand. The local area, including its farming heritage and natural surroundings, enriches scientific learning and helps pupils to appreciate the importance of caring for God’s creation. Through these experiences, children develop a deeper understanding of living things, habitats, seasonal change and environmental responsibility.

In line with our school motto, Love, Live and Learn, we aim for children to develop a love of scientific discovery, live responsibly within their local and global communities and learn from the world around them with curiosity and open minds. We want all pupils to leave All Saints with the confidence, knowledge and skills to question, investigate and understand the world, enabling them to flourish as informed and responsible citizens.
