At All Saints, our Christian vision is that, through the power of God’s love, children will reach their true potential and be able to live their lives with an open mind so that they learn from the world around them. Through our French curriculum, we inspire children to become curious, confident and enthusiastic language learners who develop an appreciation of different cultures, languages and ways of life.

Our French curriculum is designed to provide children with the knowledge, skills and vocabulary needed to communicate in another language and develop a broader understanding of the world. Through the Kapow Primary French scheme, learning is carefully sequenced through a progressive curriculum that enables pupils to revisit and build upon prior knowledge and skills over time. This approach supports the development of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills whilst fostering confidence and enjoyment in language learning.

We encourage children to think and communicate like linguists by exploring new vocabulary, practising pronunciation and developing their understanding of how language works. Through engaging and interactive learning experiences, pupils gain the confidence to express themselves in French and recognise the similarities and differences between languages. As they develop their language skills, they also strengthen their communication, memory and problem-solving abilities.

Learning a modern foreign language provides opportunities for children to look beyond their immediate surroundings and engage with the wider world. Through the study of French language and culture, pupils develop an appreciation of diversity and gain a deeper understanding of different traditions, customs and communities. These experiences encourage children to be open-minded, respectful and appreciative of the rich variety of cultures that make up our global society.

In line with our school motto, Love, Live and Learn, we aim for children to develop a love of language learning, live as respectful and informed global citizens and learn from the experiences, cultures and perspectives of others. We want all children to leave All Saints with the confidence, knowledge and skills to communicate in another language, embrace new opportunities and engage positively with the wider world, enabling them to flourish and fulfil their God-given potential.
