At All Saints, our Christian vision is that, through the power of God’s love, children will reach their true potential and be able to live their lives with an open mind so that they learn from the world around them. Through our Geography curriculum, we inspire children to be curious about the world they live in and develop a deeper understanding of the people, places and environments that shape it.

Our Geography curriculum is designed to provide children with the knowledge, skills and vocabulary needed to understand both their local area and the wider world. Through the Kapow Primary Geography scheme, learning is carefully sequenced through a spiralised curriculum that enables pupils to revisit and build upon prior knowledge and skills over time. This progressive approach supports long-term retention, deepens understanding and allows children to make meaningful connections between physical and human geography.

We encourage children to think like geographers by asking questions, making observations, collecting and analysing data, and drawing conclusions about the world around them. Through the development of fieldwork, map-reading and enquiry skills, pupils learn to investigate places and environments at a range of scales. They develop an understanding of how people interact with their surroundings and how geographical processes shape lives, communities and the planet over time.

Our unique rural setting provides valuable opportunities for children to explore geography first hand. The village of Bednall, its farming heritage and the surrounding countryside help children to develop a strong sense of place and belonging. Through the study of their local environment, pupils gain an appreciation of how landscapes are formed, how communities change and how people can care for and sustain the world around them. These experiences encourage children to recognise their responsibility as stewards of God’s creation and to consider how their actions can have a positive impact on both local and global communities.

In line with our school motto, Love, Live and Learn, we aim for children to develop a love of discovering the world, live responsibly as informed global citizens and learn from the diverse environments, cultures and communities they encounter. We want all pupils to leave All Saints with the confidence, knowledge and skills to understand the world around them, appreciate its diversity and contribute positively to its future.
