At All Saints, our Christian vision is that, through the power of God’s love, children will reach their true potential and be able to live their lives with an open mind so that they learn from the world around them. Through our Art and Design curriculum, we inspire children to be creative, imaginative and expressive learners who develop confidence in communicating their ideas, thoughts and emotions through a range of artistic media.
Our Art and Design curriculum is designed to provide children with the knowledge, skills and vocabulary needed to explore, create and evaluate artwork with increasing confidence and independence. Through the Kapow Primary Art and Design scheme, learning is carefully sequenced through a spiralised curriculum that enables pupils to revisit and build upon prior knowledge and skills over time. This progressive approach supports the development of artistic techniques, critical thinking and creative expression, allowing children to make meaningful connections between their learning and the wider world.
We encourage children to think like artists and designers by exploring ideas, experimenting with materials and techniques, and reflecting on their creative choices. Pupils learn about a diverse range of artists, craftspeople and designers from different cultures, time periods and traditions, developing an appreciation of how art can communicate ideas, tell stories and inspire change. Through creating, evaluating and refining their work, children develop resilience, originality and confidence in their own creative abilities.
Our unique rural setting provides rich inspiration for artistic exploration. The natural beauty of the surrounding countryside, changing seasons and local environment offer valuable opportunities for observation, creativity and first-hand experiences. Alongside this, our school’s heritage and strong sense of community help children to appreciate how art reflects identity, culture and belonging. Through these experiences, pupils learn to observe the world closely and respond thoughtfully and creatively to what they see.
In line with our school motto, Love, Live and Learn, we aim for children to develop a love of creativity and self-expression, live with curiosity and appreciation for the diverse world around them, and learn through experimentation, reflection and imagination. We want all children to leave All Saints with the confidence, knowledge and skills to express themselves creatively, appreciate the work of others and recognise the value of art and design in enriching their lives and communities, enabling them to flourish and fulfil their God-given potential.
