At All Saints, our Christian vision is that, through the power of God’s love, children will reach their true potential and be able to live their lives with an open mind so that they learn from the world around them. Through our Music curriculum, we inspire children to develop a love of music, creativity and performance whilst nurturing confidence, self-expression and a sense of belonging.
Our Music curriculum is designed to provide children with the knowledge, skills and vocabulary needed to appreciate, perform, compose and respond to music. Through our partnership with Entrust Music Service, pupils experience a progressive and engaging curriculum that develops musical understanding, listening skills and practical musicianship. Children build upon their prior learning over time, developing confidence as performers and a deeper appreciation of music from a range of cultures, traditions and genres.
In the early years of their musical journey, children take part in Entrust’s Music Nurture programme, which develops fundamental musical skills through singing, rhythm, movement and active participation. From Year 4 onwards, pupils have the opportunity to learn the ukulele, enabling them to develop instrumental skills, musical notation, performance techniques and the discipline required to practise and improve. These experiences encourage perseverance, creativity and pride in achievement whilst fostering a lifelong appreciation of music.
Music plays an important role within our school community. Through collective worship, celebrations, performances and wider enrichment opportunities, children experience the power of music to bring people together, express emotions and create shared experiences. Participation in music helps pupils develop confidence, teamwork and resilience whilst contributing positively to the life of the school.
In line with our school motto, Love, Live and Learn, we aim for children to develop a love of music and performance, live as confident and creative individuals and learn through listening, participation and self-expression. We want all children to leave All Saints with the confidence, knowledge and skills to engage with music in meaningful ways, appreciate its importance within different cultures and communities and use music as a means of expression, enjoyment and connection, enabling them to flourish and fulfil their God-given potential.
