At All Saints, our Christian vision is that, through the power of God’s love, children will reach their true potential and be able to live their lives with an open mind so that they learn from the world around them. Through our Design and Technology curriculum, we inspire children to become creative, resourceful and innovative thinkers who develop the confidence to solve problems and make a positive contribution to the world around them.

Our Design and Technology curriculum is designed to provide children with the knowledge, skills and vocabulary needed to design, make and evaluate purposeful products. Through the Kapow Primary Design and Technology scheme, learning is carefully sequenced through a spiralised curriculum that enables pupils to revisit and build upon prior knowledge and skills over time. This progressive approach supports the development of technical knowledge, practical skills and creative thinking, allowing children to make meaningful connections between their learning and real-life contexts.

We encourage children to think like designers and engineers by identifying needs, generating ideas, planning solutions and evaluating the effectiveness of their designs. Through a range of practical projects, pupils learn to take risks, solve problems and refine their work through reflection and evaluation. They develop an understanding of how design and technology influence everyday life and discover how innovation can improve the lives of individuals and communities.

Our unique rural setting provides valuable opportunities for children to explore how design and technology impact the world around them. By considering the needs of their local community and learning about the role of design in areas such as agriculture, sustainability and everyday life, pupils gain an appreciation of how creativity and innovation can be used to address real-world challenges. These experiences encourage children to become responsible, thoughtful individuals who recognise the importance of designing for both people and the environment.

In line with our school motto, Love, Live and Learn, we aim for children to develop a love of creativity, problem-solving and innovation, live as resourceful and responsible members of their communities and learn through practical experiences that encourage curiosity and perseverance. We want all children to leave All Saints with the confidence, knowledge and skills to design, create and evaluate solutions to real-world problems, enabling them to flourish and fulfil their God-given potential.
