Our Curriculum Intent Statement

At All Saints, our vision states that through the power of God’s love, children will reach their true potential and be able to live their lives with an open mind so that they learn from the world around them. Through our curriculum, we provide the knowledge, skills and vocabulary our children need to embrace our school motto: Love, Live and Learn.

Love

Throughout a child’s journey through All Saints, we inspire a love of learning. The National Curriculum is underpinned by our Christian ethos and values, which are woven throughout school life and learning. Our close-knit school community comprises our families, staff, church and village. It is the strong bond between us all that provides the nurture and support that enables our children to reach their true potential.

Live

Through the learning experiences we provide, we aim for our children to become well-rounded citizens who can think independently, approach challenges with confidence and curiosity, and are well prepared for life in modern Britain. Our curriculum is brought to life through stimulating experiences such as educational visits, visitors and enrichment opportunities, which broaden horizons and raise aspirations for the future. A regular programme of enrichment activities throughout the academic year enhances learning and builds our pupils’ cultural capital. Our ultimate aim is for children to leave All Saints with a growth mindset, ambitious expectations of themselves and the knowledge, skills and vocabulary they need to flourish in the next stage of their education and beyond.

Learn

We deliver a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum that builds upon a strong foundation of core knowledge and skills. Through the use of Kapow Primary schemes of learning, our curriculum follows a spiral approach, enabling children to revisit and build upon prior learning over time. Knowledge and skills are carefully sequenced to ensure progression across all subjects, helping pupils to make meaningful connections, deepen their understanding and retain learning for the long term.

Our high expectations ensure that all children make good progress, which is carefully monitored and supported. By revisiting key concepts and applying them in new contexts, children develop confidence, resilience and the ability to think critically about their learning and the world around them.

We strongly believe that children benefit from our unique rural setting. The village of Bednall’s farming roots, alongside our school’s Victorian heritage, provide rich first-hand learning opportunities that enhance and contextualise the curriculum. These experiences help children develop a deeper understanding of their local community while fostering curiosity about the wider world.
