Our Church School
All Saints Church
We are incredibly lucky for our school to be located next to All Saints Church; not only is it a magnificent building but our whole school community is made very welcome there. The school holds many events in the church including Harvest festival, Nativity performances, Christingle/Carol Services and a Leavers' Service at the end of the academic year. The church community also holds regular Messy Church sessions which many of our pupils enjoy - please see our newsletter for details!
More recently, the children have been attending church every Monday for collective worship. Pupils of all ages are keen to take part in the service led by Reverend Delphine, who is also one of our school governors. Each week one of our pupils has the job of writing about our latest service - please see this week's newsletter for photographs and to find out what we have been thinking about in collective worship.
Our Christian Values
At All Saints, Christian Values underpin everything we do and we are pleased to announce the six values that we will be focussing on throughout the year:
The children have been thinking about Courage since returning to school and the staff have been busy looking for pupils who have been carrying out courageous acts to receive the Headteacher's Award!
Both the pupils and parents at our school contributed to our choice of values through their responses to a homework task that was set over the Christmas holidays. Both felt that these were the 6 values were really important and focusing on them would have a really positive impact on our school.
We are very fortunate to have supportive parents who are keen to contribute ideas.
The children had lots of fun adding their coins 'around the world'. Reverend Delphine will be sending the money to Christian Aid.
Our Worship Team
Each year a group of Key Stage 2 children is chosen to form a worship team. The children are responsible for preparing the altar for collective worship, sharing Bible readings and leading prayers. Reverend Delphine often gives them special roles and responsibilities during services held in church. At the end of the year, the worship team are presented with a special certificate at our Celebration Award Ceremony as a thank you for their efforts throughout the year.

Our School Hymn
At the start of the year, the children were asked to choose a hymn they felt represented our school. Having recently sang 'Shine, Jesus, Shine!' beautifully during the Christingle Service, it was no surprise when many of them requested this as the All Saints hymn! One of the older pupils summed up the connection our school has with the words by explaining that the hymn is about Jesus showing everyone at our school the way! We are sure that this hymn will continue to be very special to us and will encourage children to love, live and learn in all they do.
